My husband and I wanted something different, not the normal chain restaurant. I had been hearing rave reviews about this place, and it didn’t disappoint. We had an amazing crab pretzel that wasn’t heavy, bison burger was delicious fries hot and fresh, and the ruben with the horseradish thousand island was spectacular. It’s a hidden gem that we will absolutely return to

The staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is inviting. Appetizers, mixed drinks, sandwiches, entrees, and desserts are all great and the staff are helpful with food suggestions if you can't decide. Too many food options to recommend, but the specials and the reuben have made a great impression on me. I'll try to add more pictures.

We had dinner, last night, at Rik’s Café in Hagerstown, and it was a fantastic experience. Our waitress, Maddie, was personable, attentive, and genuinely fun. She rolled right along with my husband’s sense of humor, keeping the laughs going both ways — it set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. For drinks, my husband ordered a diet soda with no ice, and I went with their Dirty Martini Local. It was beautifully prepared and garnished with three plump blue-cheese stuffed olives in each glass. The balance was spot-on — I enjoyed one before dinner and had to order a second after the meal because it was that good. We started with a caprese salad that was anything but ordinary — the prosciutto and avocado additions made it fresh, flavorful, and just perfect to share. For my entrée, I ordered the crab cakes with jasmine rice and collard greens. The crab cakes were flawless — big clumps of crab, cooked beautifully, and complemented with tartar sauce that tied everything together. My husband ordered the bison burger, stacked with pickled onions and a bacon-flavored aioli. It came with house-made Old Bay spiced chips, which added just the right crunch and seasoning. The burger looked incredible, and from the bite I sampled, it was mighty tasty. He loved it. The atmosphere sealed the deal. Even at 8:30 p.m. on a weeknight (they close at 9:30), the dining room still had about six tables filled, from couples to larger groups. The bar is stunning — spacious, with a comfortable couch seating area and vintage-style cabinets that give it an old-fashioned, authentic feel, even though it’s tucked in a plaza. Food came out lightning fast and cooked to perfection, which honestly surprised us in the best way. We would absolutely return. In fact, we drove down from Syracuse and it was absolutely worth the stop. Highly recommend Rik’s Café to anyone passing through Hagerstown — without question a five-star experience.

Fantastic food, excellent service, and fair prices.....what else is there to say! I'll be back for more. The wait staff were very attentive, the food was perfectly cooked/flavorful, and the Margarita was not watered down aka they didn't skimp. Loved it!

Was in town to catch a flight and googled places in the area. This place kept popping up and figured we'd give it a try. Very glad we did - delicious food, great service, and very cute atmosphere. Will try and go again at another flight!

Our family stopped here for lunch while traveling with our grandchildren. We had an excellent experience including a friendly and funny waiter along with fresh and tasty food. The restaurant and restrooms were clean. All staff were welcoming and pleasant, even holding the door open for us when we left. The crab pretzel was tasty, and the kids enjoyed the mac and cheese and chicken quesadilla. I loved that they called the kids’ menu the “Young People’s“ menu:) We highly recommend!

We were recommended by a young man, T, who called ahead for us and made us a reservation. He said the food was great, and boy was he right! My mom and I love seafood, but it’s hard to find good places for real seafood done right, especially this far from the ocean! We ordered the mussels and shrimp and the chicken and crab cake. Mussels were great and not overdone, shrimp was too! The chicken was moist and tender (which is so challenging) and it wasn’t a flattened cutlet, it was an actual chicken breast and the crab imperial and the massive real crab meat crab cake was almost just crab, with barely any filler. My mom opened it up and the crab cake fell apart into massive amounts of real crab! She did want the rice so they put it over their fresh green beans for her and she got a side of fries. The picture doesn’t do the meal justice. The mussels look like there weren’t many, but what you can’t see is that almost the entire underneath is nothing but mussels. It was amazing! The fries were limp, but that’s not why we went so we didn’t care. The wait staff was nice, available, but not overly hovering either and my mom and I were able to have a great conversation while eating a phenomenal meal for a VERY reasonable price for great seafood! Thanks for a great evening!

From the front riks cafe looks like just another strip mall restaurant. But once you step inside its a relaxing enjoyable location with excellent drinks and food. Service was professional and knowledgable. The Rikarita was fantastic and i had to order a second one. The blackened crap grilled cheese was as if they took the true essence of what makes maryland a great place to live and made it a grilled cheese. Our waitress was fantastic and was highly knowledgable about the menu and recommendations. Left here feeling fat and happy!

I just had an incredible first experience at Rick’s Cafe. You can tell immediately that the kitchen staff is exceptionally talented and brings a special, diverse energy to the food. I had the Butternut Squash Gnocchi with a turmeric cream sauce, garnished with Parmesan and crushed pistachios. It’s rare to find a kitchen that can balance turmeric’s strength so perfectly with the sweetness of the squash and the saltiness of the nuts,it was a truly unique, well rounded dish. The service was just as impressive. The bartender was amazing and very interactive. I finished with the warm Oreo butter cake topped with ice cream, which was the perfect end to the meal. Hagerstown is lucky to have a spot with this much talent. Five stars all around!

TLDR - Don't sleep on this one. Fantastic in every way. We came for Mother's Day, and reservations were a must. Starting with the reserved table already prepped with the right number of menus, glasses, silverware, etc, you know it's not just a neighborhood bar. We started with Orange Crushes and the crab pretzel, which was good enough to convince us to get the crabby chicken entree. We also got the lamb chops. Both were expertly cooked, with attention to detail in the presentation. Someone in the kitchen knows what they're doing. Finally the dessert tray came out. Wow! We'll definitely come back to try some of the sandwiches, and hopefully Cali will be our serve again. She was wonderful!
